SpacerThe Democrats and Barack Obama seem to believe they share no blame for the poor economySpacer

Do they think we are stupid? I know that this mess was created by both parties. We have too much partisan politics going on. The Republican's want to blame, The Democrats want to blame - in the end the citizens pay the price. Now get to work USA.

The Debate 3 arguments

Ultimately The Bush administration is to blame.I'm not the Sec. of the Treasury but even I could see disaster looming from the hard sell of the A.R.M. Had the administration stepped in with legislation disallowing a Mortgage at less than .5 percent of the fixed mortgage rate at the time, this entire mess could have been avoided. In my opinion the biggest mistake the GOP did was running Bush in the 2000 election. It was a big mistake but I think even the Republicans regret this one.

TinyThomas Stobie Actually, the Democrats in Congress pushed for these mortgages, even if the consumer could not afford it.

If the Dems want to blame Bush then they need to show the American public how they tried to stop this- it seems they instead accepted campaign money brib into the Dodd, and Obama pockets- this is wrong and dishonest. Obama's been lying.

That is how they and their media supporters want to present it.

It is however very UNTRUE. Liberals in Congress blocked Bush's efforts to address the problems years ago, with fixes for the mortgage mess, the lending problems, the lack of job growth and others.

Bush tried to get Congress to address these issues. Listen again to his State of the Union addresses (all of them) and you will see what in general he asked Congress to do. In the last 6 years, he got very little of what he asked for.

Is there blame on Bush - Yes, for not recruiting the American people to beat up on Congress to do what it needed.

Is there blame on the Liberal in Congress. Lots for the failure to act, the poor judgement they executed, and the special interested they sold out to.

Super_guy_14Robert The reasons for the economic crisis are many but primary is the failure to act when we ALL knew this was coming two-years ago...Partisan Politics as ususal
