SpacerI don't believe it is totally the home owner's fault for the housing problems.Spacer

people in the mortgage industry seemed to care more about making big profits instead of making sure that people were buying houses that they could afford.

The Debate 2 arguments

In the past my wife and I have had credit issues (medical bills that come with the illness of my wife and those that go along with raising 3 children) that prevented us from purchasing our 1st home. We have done the right things in order to clear and pay our debts and made it right in order to purchase our 1st home that is well within reason of what we can afford. Now that we are this close to closing our 401k has dropped below our borrowing amount. I would like to know if MY government is going to help me to come up with the remaining amount I need as easily as we are going to give greedy homeowners the money to stay in their homes that they could not afford to pay for in the 1st place? In short will these homeowners be made to work 2 jobs as I have in order to pay back their debts instead of wathcing TLC and trying to flip the houses that are to live instead of using them as a "piggy bank"?Our will they still be able to continue to live a champange life on a beer wallet on my dime? Driving their SUV and in some cases 2 and run credit card debt to the point of no return with no accountability? I for one am completely disgusted that these people will continue to get by and people like me will continue to "bail them out". Let them go thru what my wife and I have for 14yrs and than maybe I will feel better about helping them. And please do not tell me again how they did not understand what it was they were getting into. If they know simple math and read fairly well they can understand the contract that they signed. And lets not even talk about the fact that they have credit card debt that will never be paid back..I agree that in some of these cases these people have almost a disease like personality to spend beyond their means. I feel more oversight of people like this is a must. Besides being sure they have never filed for bankruptcy protection. I have heard of many that have in the past more than just once... So let me close by saying work 60+hrs on 2 different jobs, drive 10+ yr old vechicles or in my case a 24yr old vechicle. Try taking weekend vacations instead of disney and than MAYBE I will give you an ear or a shread of concern on where you live..As far as I am care they can live under a bridge!

The blame is shared among the liberals in Congress who feel that everyone should be able to buy a home even if they cannot afford it, the lenders who allowed the risky loans, and the companies who would buy these loans without checking them out.
